The College will end its practice of granting equivalent standing for certain Ontario programs in September 2015.
After September 2015, only College-accredited Ontario programs will be eligible for Additional Qualifications. This reflects the College’s accreditation function more accurately and is consistent with the purpose of the College’s accreditation regulation.
When teacher certification responsibilities were transferred to the College from the Ministry of Education, the College continued the practice of granting equivalent standing for certain Additional Qualifications based on studies completed in Ontario. For example, graduates of Early Childhood Education programs at an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology were granted equivalent standing for the Additional Qualifications, Primary Education.
Studies completed outside Ontario can still be considered for equivalent standing after September 2015. Members who are interested in applying for equivalent standing can access the forms and additional information at bit.ly/1wwtmTt.
