Anderson replaces Fox on fourth Council

Council has appointed Greg Anderson to fill the position for Supervisory Officers created by Helen Fox’s resignation.

Anderson, a superintendent of education with the Grand Erie DSB, was runner-up to Fox in the 2006 Council election.

According to College regulations, Council shall appoint the runner-up in the category, provided that person remains interested and meets the position requirements, if the seat of an elected Council member becomes vacant more than six months before the member’s term of office ends.

Certified in May 1976, Anderson taught Grades 3 to OAC before working for 13 years as a principal with the Halton DSB. With the Grand Erie board, he has held several portfolios in addition to his responsibility for a large family of schools that includes all 41 elementary and secondary schools in Haldimand and Norfolk counties. Currently, Anderson supervises the day-to-day operations of those schools as well as heading up safe schools, character education, anti-bullying initiatives and Native programs for Grand Erie.

In the 1990s Anderson authored two books, including I Don’t Want to Go to School Today: A Guide for Parents. He also wrote articles on education and parenting that were published in the Toronto Star, Hamilton Spectator and Canadian Living.

Anderson earned a BA and a BEd from Queen’s University and a master’s degree from the University of Toronto. His College registration number is 245069.
