Elizabeth (Liz) Barkley teaches at the Yorkdale Adult Day School in North York.

Sandi Bell is the president of a consulting firm in Toronto that provides ADR Mediation and a variety of human resources development workshops. Further services include seminars dealing with communications skills, esteem building, conflict resolution, anger management, team building, anti-racism, diversity management and leadership skills.
Her community involvement includes work on behalf of the Hamilton Council of Home and Schools, the Working Group on Safe Schools, the Advisory Committee for Implementation of School Councils and the Black Educators' Working Group.

Jackie Breithaupt is the former director of communications and public affairs for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions in Ottawa.
Throughout her career she has held several advisory and administrative positions with the federal government. In 1992 she was the chair of her local school parent advisory committee, as well as liaison with the Ottawa South Community Association/St. Margaret Mary School.
She also worked closely with the Roman Catholic School Board Parent Advisory Committee as an alternate representative, from 1993 to 1994.
Ms. Breithaupt was appointed as a public member of the Governing Council.
Pierre Calvé is Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. He holds a doctorate in linguistics from Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C.
As a professor and author, he has made a special contribution to the pre-service and in-service training of teachers of French-as-a-Second-Language.

Larry Capstick is serving his third term as the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation district president in Carleton. He is employed by the Carleton Board of Education.
He earned his BA (honours) at Carleton University in 1971, his BEd in 1972 at the University of Toronto and his MEd in 1990 at the University of Ottawa.
He taught history, English, Canadian family and co-operative education at Gloucester High School from 1974 to 1994, is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a former member of the Ontario Council of Adult Educators.

Doug Carter is the president of the Teachers' Federation of Carleton and is employed by the Carleton Board of Education, where he is currently on secondment from Emily Can Middle School in Gloucester.
He attended the New Brunswick Teachers' College in 1962, gained his BA in 1968 and his BEd in 1973 from the University of New Brunswick.
He has taught primary, junior, intermediate, senior, librarianship, French and computers in New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec.

Paul Charron teaches at the Ecole secondaire Macdonald-Cartier in Sudbury. He has been teaching mathematics since 1970.
He received his BSc from Laurentian University in Sudbury in 1970, his teaching certificate from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay in 1972 and his specialist certificate from the University of Ottawa in 1976.

Wayne Cornack is department head of geography at St. Martin's Secondary School in Mississauga. His 21-year teaching career includes positions at Senator O'Connor High School in Toronto and Thousand Islands Secondary School in Brockville.
Mr. Comack earned his BA at the University of Toronto in 1974, with a specialist in geography and a minor in economics. He earned his BEd at the University of Toronto and obtained his teaching certificate in 1975. He completed his MEd at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in 1990.

John Cruickshank is the principal of Marvin Heights Public School in Mississauga. He was previously a classroom teacher in the primary, junior and intermediate divisions and earned his certification to teach in Ontario in 1972.
He gained his BA from York University in Toronto, his BEd from the University of Toronto, and his MEd from Niagara University in New York State.
In 1984 Mr. Cruickshank was the recipient of the President's Award from the Ontario Public School Teachers' Federation. Mr. Cruickshank was elected from the Central Ontario elementary category.
Lynn Daigneault is a superintendent responsible for organizational transformation with the North York Board of Education.
Over the past 29 years she has been a teacher, affirmative action consultant, Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation district president, school administrator and supervisory officer.
She has a MEd in education administration and a BA in French language and literature, both from the University of Toronto.

Margaret Dempsey is the principal of Hopewell Avenue School in Ottawa. She was previously a classroom teacher and vice-principal.
She earned her MEd in education administration from the University of Ottawa in 1977. She was certified to teach in Ontario in 1966 and has taken several additional qualification courses.
Ms. Dempsey served as president of the Federation of Women Teachers' Associations of Ontario from 1992 to 1993.

Solette N. Gelberg is the executive director of the Canadian Educational Standards Institute. She has broad experience in senior level management of regulatory and financial affairs along with a background in marketing, advertising and consumer research.
Mrs. Gelberg has a long record of community service. She has been vice-chair of the board of governors of the University of Guelph, vice-chair of the Ontario Health Disciplines Board and served for six years as a public member on the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. She is currently a member of the board of Tapestry Music Theatre.

Michel C. Gravelle is a program leader in science, mathematics and technical studies at Confederation Secondary School in Val Caron, Ontario.

Frances E. Hill is the director of the Lower School at Pickering College. Her BA and BEd degrees were completed at the University of Toronto and York respectively and she is presently completing her MA thesis at OISE. Mrs. Hill's teaching experience has included the Junior Division classrooms and ESL and FSL at primary, junior and intermediate levels.
As well as many years experience in human resources within the insurance industry and social services, Mrs. Hill has considerable law office management experience and has served many community organizations as a board member.
Mrs. Hill served three consecutive terms as a French language trustee for the York Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board.

Nancy Hutcheson completed her BA (honours) in English and French at Carleton University in Ottawa in 1985 and was certified to teach at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay in 1987.
She has taught at Franklin Public School, Kitchener, and Kingsway Park School in Thunder Bay as Junior Division Leader. The mother of two young children who are just entering the Ontario educational system, Ms. Hutcheson currently teaches at Sir John A. Macdonald School in Thunder Bay.
Ms Hutcheson has written curriculum documents and given workshops on peer government, report card writing and student-led interviews with parents. She has also been active as a Key Teacher, FSL Convenor, Equity and Race Relations Convenor and Collective Bargaining Committee Secretary.

Donna Marie Kennedy is President of the Elementary and Secondary Unit of Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, Carleton, a position she has filled since 1992.
She gained her Ontario Teacher's Certificate in 1972 and her BA in 1975. She also completed additional education to gain her specialist, special education, religion and principal's qualifications.

Marilyn Laframboise teaches at Ecole St-Jean-Baptiste in Amherstburg, Ontario. She previously worked as a school board social worker and for the Children's Aid Society.
She earned her BSW in 1975 at the University of Windsor and her BEd and teaching certificate in 1979, as well as taking additional qualifications courses at Ottawa, Laurentian and Western universities.
She has conducted workshops on teaching English-as-a-Second-Language at junior and transitional levels and has participated in several writing projects on integration and implementation of the common curriculum.

Diane Leblovic is a trustee and former chair of the Halton Board of Education. Ms. Leblovic began working with the Halton Board of Education where she taught elementary school from 1965 to 1973.
Since then, she has performed extensive community work with schools including participation on the executive of parent-teachers advisory committees. She has been a trustee for six years.

Alfred J. Lorenzi served as chair of the Unemployment Insurance Commission Appeal Board in Welland, Ontario from 1984 to 1992.
For more than 25 years, Mr. Lorenzi was the owner and operator of a restaurant and motel business, and from 1976 to 1993 was the president of Currie Rose Resources Ltd.
He is a former treasurer of the John Howard Society and president of the Southern Ontario Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Kathleen McFadyen is a trustee on the Wellington County Board of Education and is president of the Canadian Home and School Association.
She was educated at the University of Guelph and began her career in 1975 as a constable with the Ontario Provincial Police in Geraldton, Ontario.
In 1978, she moved to the Guelph Detachment Unit. She has been a trustee for six years.

George Merrett is principal-teacher at Harrow Senior Public School in Harrow, Ontario.
He began teaching for the Essex County Board of Education in 1969 and has served as a classroom teacher of Grades 3 through 8. He has been a principal-teacher for 13 years.

Karen M. Mitchell is the treasurer and director of the Organization for Quality Education, director of the Coalition for Education Reform and past-president of the Waterloo chapter of the Organization for Quality Education.
Ms. Mitchell has worked at Canada House in London, England, assisting Canadians abroad with visa and immigration issues, the Technical University of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia provincial departments of Transportation and Municipal Affairs.

Harry Mulvale is the head of history and contemporary studies at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton. He has also taught history at Bishop Ryan Secondary School and at Cathedral
Secondary School in Hamilton.
He earned his BA in 1969 and his MA in history in 1976 from McMaster University. He has been certified to teach in Ontario since 1970.
Mr. Mulvale was elected from the Southwest Ontario secondary category.
Nicholas L. Myrhorod has been a member of the Rent Review Hearings Board and has conducted appeal hearings since 1988.
Prior to that, he was the manager of Rent Review Services in East York. Mr. Myrhorod has served on various other boards and commissions for the past 18 years and has extensive adjudication and mediation experience.
He is multilingual, speaking English, German, Russian and Ukrainian.
Mr. Myrhorod was appointed as a public member of the Governing Council.
Cecilia Reynolds is chair of the graduate department at the faculty of education at Brock University in St. Catharines.
She has written numerous articles for publication in national and international journals on issues related to teachers' work and is co-editor of the book Women and Leadership in Canadian Education.
She was certified to teach in Ontario in 1968 and taught for 17 years in the Metropolitan Toronto,
Dufferin-Peel and Halton Separate school boards. She earned her PhD from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in 1987 and has been a faculty member at Brock since 1986.

William G. Rogers recently retired from the position of executive director of the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane, Ontario.
From 1987 to 1992 he was the chair of the negotiating team for the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and a member of the OHA board of directors from 1984 to 1988. In 1970, he became a Certified Health Executive, recognized by the Canadian College of Health Service Executives.
Mr. Rogers has also volunteered time on his local community policing committee and was active with the Board of Education for Disabled Adults.
Mr. Rogers was appointed as a public member of the Governing Council.
Anthony Saldanha is a former commissioner with Statistics Canada, implementing statistical gathering systems for the Canadian Census in 1991 and 1996.
In 1992 he was awarded the Canada 125 Commemorative Medal by the Governor General, for community services.
He is registered in an MBA program specializing in International Trade and Finance, and Product Development for World Competitiveness.

John Slade is currently vice-president at Johnson & Higgins Ltd. in London.
Mr. Slade is a former director of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario and was involved in Risk Management Services for the LCBO from 1980 to 1987. He was a director and vice-president for Integrated Energy Development Corporation from 1988 to 1994 and sat on the Ontario Chamber of Commerce energy committee from 1992 to 1996.
Mr. Slade was a school trustee with the Bruce County Board of Education from 1976 to 1978.
He was appointed as a public member of the Governing Council.
David Somer is a doctor of dental surgery, maintains a private practice in Hamilton and is a member of the board of governors of the Canadian Dental Association.
He was educated at the University of Toronto, where he graduated in 1965. Dr. Somer is also a member of the Allied Dental Health Advisory Committee, Niagara College in Welland, and serves as a member of the courtesy staff at Chedoke-McMaster Hospital in Hamilton.
He is the founder and past-president of the Dundana School Home and School Association.

Frances Thorne has been an immigration counsellor with the federal department of Citizenship and Immigration in Kingston since 1994.
She was an immigration counsellor assistant from 1990 to 1993 and was named senior immigration consultant to Queen's University in 1994.
Her community service includes involvement on parent-teacher associations and as a board member with the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Clarice West-Hobbs is vice-principal at Vineland Public School and Maple Grove Elementary School in Vineland.
