Membership Services Answers Frequently Asked Questions
College call centre staff answer over 1,000 calls every day. Here are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.

I recently tried to see my record in the Members' Area of the College web site. I received an answer that my membership number is invalid, but it's the number on my Certificate of Qualification. Why can't I use this area?

If you attempt to log into the Members' Area for the first time, you must enter the Membership Made Easy page and follow the steps. You will be asked to answer a few questions and provide a password to access your file. The direct link to this page is at https://www.oct.ca/memsvcs/loginfirst.asp.

When will I know how many PLP credits I have?
Some course providers are beginning to submit results of members' successful course completion. However, not all providers have begun submitting results. When they do, the College processes the results as soon as possible.

If you have completed a PLP course-and your provider has submitted the results-you can go to the web site now and check your record by using your private account in the secure Members' Area. If you haven't established your Members' Area account yet, enter through Membership Made Easy-it will take a few minutes to set up your password.

The credit value of any PLP course is available on the College web site at http://www.oct.ca/en/PLP/teacher-information_E.asp.

I have forgotten my password/secret question and can no longer access my record. How can I retrieve it?

If you have forgotten your password and your secret question/answer please revisit our Members' Area. You can renew your login information at https://www.oct.ca/memsvcs/loginforgot.asp If you've forgotten your password.

Where do I register for PLP courses?

You register with the provider of the courses. The College web site lists the provider and the PLP contact person. Many providers use their web page to inform members about approved courses, availability, registration, times and methods of delivery or location and other pertinent information.

How do you decide the PLP credit value of my professional activities this year?

The Professional Learning Committee uses the course credit rubric to evaluate the activity's content and expectations, its Ontario context or school-community connection, its support of the standards of practice, its impact on student achievement, the duration of the activity, and how the formal testing or assessment mechanism matches the course expectations. It is available at http://www.oct.ca/en/PLP/course-credit-rubric_E.asp.
