Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Leadership

Teachers eligible for the Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Leadership include certified elementary and secondary teachers as well as certified vice-principals, principals, supervisory officers and directors of education. Award criteria for a school or board leader are:

• builds and champions a shared vision, in a school or a board, that enhances teaching and student learning
• sets high expectations for teaching and learning, promotes ongoing professional development and leads the charge to improve instruction
• promotes a collective responsibility for student achievement
• guides the school or board through challenges and empowers people to take risks
• fosters a collaborative culture that engages people and creates a positive teaching and learning environment
• creates innovative opportunities to enhance student learning.
