Election call

Notice is hereby given that an election will be held from Tuesday, September 5 to Tuesday, October 24, 2006 to elect 23 representatives to the College Council, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 293/00 made under the Ontario College of Teachers Act.

If you are in good standing as of August 25, 2006, you will be eligible to vote electronically via a ballot in the Members’ Area of the College web site. We’ll customize each ballot for you according to your voting eligibility.

This special edition of Professionally Speaking focuses on generating as many candidates in the election as possible. You will find directions here on how to nominate a member of the College or put your own name forward as a candidate.

The September issue of Professionally Speaking will include voting information, a list of the candidates and detailed biographical information, along with a general description of the role and functions of the College and the Council.

This candidate and voting information will also be available on the College web site as of Tuesday, September 5, 2006 for College members’ reference.

I encourage all College members to consider nominating someone or running as a candidate and to vote in the election of the teaching profession’s representatives on the College’s fourth Council.
