Evaluations appointment

Hanca Chang is new evaluations manager

Hanca Chang has assumed the post of Manager of the Evaluations Services Unit of the Membership Services Department, effective January 21, 2008.

Chang is a member of the College with extensive experience in public administration in education.

“I’m delighted to be joining the College,” said Chang. “Tremendous opportunities lie ahead in ensuring high standards in the teaching profession in Ontario. The College has developed impressive resources and national and international contacts to support its responsibilities in assessing teaching credentials. I look forward to supporting the high standards the College has set in this work.”

Most recently, Chang spent six years as a senior manager at the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC). Her work there included undertaking comparative reviews of teacher certification regulations across Canada, as well as co-ordinating the implementation of a labour mobility agreement between provinces and territories for the teaching profession.

Other pan-Canadian initiatives Chang led at CMEC involved developing policy and programs for teachers in minority francophone schools, producing a student transfer guide and leading national efforts in the education sector to reform copyright law and regulations affecting educational institutions.

In earlier years, Chang worked in community outreach for the Ministry of Education and as a teaching assistant in France.

Chang earned her undergraduate degree in English/French studies at Queen’s University, where she also earned her Bachelor of Education degree. Prior to that she studied literature and linguistics at the Université de Strasbourg in France.
