Category

Helen Fox (Supervisory Officer), an educator for 35 years, is Superintendent of Education in the York Region DSB. A former teacher, department head, principal and vice-principal, she currently has responsibilities for secondary schools and carries the safe and supportive schools portfolio. She has a BA and BEd from the University of Toronto, an MEd from Brock University and is trained in alternate dispute resolution and restorative practice. Her College registration number is 127818.

Peter Joong (Faculty of Education) received the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence in 1998 and the Nipissing University Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research in 2005. Currently an assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at Nipissing University, he taught math, science, computer and co-operative education for 30 years. The author of numerous math textbooks and teacher resource books, he has conducted workshops for educators in Ontario, China, England, Jamaica, Jordan, Mongolia, Nepal and UAE. Joong has a BSc from Loyola College, an MSc from McMaster University and a DipEd from the University of the West Indies plus an MEd and an EdD from the University of Toronto. Ruth Ann Penny (Private School) is director of admissions at Branksome Hall in Toronto. Since starting out as a kindergarten and French teacher in 1976, she has taught all ages and grades in rural, suburban and urban settings, in both co-educational and single-gender environments, in English and in French and in both public and private schools. She has been a member of the Ontario Teachers' Federation, a collective bargaining rep for the Federation of Women Teachers' Associations of Ontario (FWTAO), a professional development committee chair for FWTAO-Halton and a trainer for the Ministry of Education. Penny has a BA from McMaster University, a BEd from Laurentian University and an MA from the University of Toronto. Her College registration number is 150717.

Henry Tyndorf (Principal/Vice-principal) is a vice-principal with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic DSB. With an Honours BSc in geological engineering he began his career as a prospector in New Brunswick and Ontario. After earning an MBA he spent 15 years in the personal computer industry. In 1992 he completed his BEd and began teaching business and computer science, soon moving on to become a department head of information services and finally taking his first of two positions as a secondary school vice-principal. His degrees are all from the University of Toronto. He has specialist qualifications in business and religious education and has completed the Principal's Qualification Program and the Supervisory Officer's Qualification Program.
