Summer Institute Funds Redirected

The Ministry of Education has redirected $1.75 million for summer institutes from the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF) to district school boards and school authorities approved by the College as Professional Learning Program providers.

District school boards receiving this one-time funding are expected to use it to provide PLP-eligible courses this summer. The courses may be offered directly by the board, by a consortium of boards or by any other approved provider. French language professional development will continue to be implemented by Centre franco-ontarien de ressources pédagogiques (CFORP).

The funding was redirected after the OTF told the Ministry the federation would not become an approved provider for the Professional Learning Program.
