PLP Letter Generates Big Response

More than 4,000 members have contacted the College in response to the August 13 letter from Chair Larry Capstick and Registrar Joe Atkinson to all members explaining the Professional Learning Program.
Most have filled out the online survey, identifying their areas of interest and concern. Costs, accessibility and questions about retroactive credit for courses taken this past summer or earlier were the most common topics of members’ questions and comments.
"A significant number of members also contacted us with suggestions about who should be offering courses and what types of professional learning should be recognized — members have suggested that workshops, conferences and marking EQAO tests should be considered for PLP credits," says Client Services Officer George D’Agostino. "There is very keen interest in online courses."
College Registrar Joe Atkinson says the feedback from members is already proving very helpful. "Members have raised a number of issues that we will ask the College’s new Professional Learning Committee to consider when it meets in November and December. There’s obviously a real demand for information from our members, and we’re planning to respond as quickly as we have the answers from our new Professional Learning Committee."
Atkinson said one form of feedback from members about the Professional Learning program is particularly interesting — more than 110 College members have applied for PLP-related jobs at the College since August.
