Accreditation Update
— Lakehead University Faculty of Education

The consecutive and concurrent pre-service teacher education programs underwent an initial accreditation review March 5-9, 2000. The decision of the Accreditation Committee at its June 15-16, 2000 meeting was to award the status "Initial Accreditation Granted with Conditions" to the consecutive and concurrent pre-service teacher education programs.
The College Accreditation Committee has recognized the work that Lakehead University Faculty of Education has undertaken since the implementation of the Lakehead University strategic plan and since the College review of the teacher education programs in March 2000. Lakehead University worked to provide additional and updated information to the College demonstrating how the conditions and recommendations of the Initial Accreditation Report were being or had been met.
The Lakehead University Faculty of Education has proceeded with the ongoing implementation of the strategic plan and, through this process, acted upon the conditions and recommendations identified in the Accreditation Committee Report. The Lakehead University Faculty of Education has made periodic reports to the College Registrar to inform the Accreditation Committee of the Faculty’s progress.
As a result of the work that the Lakehead University Faculty of Education has undertaken, the Accreditation Committee, at its meeting on August 24, 2001, resolved:
"That Lakehead University Faculty of Education has addressed the conditions pertaining to the 2000 award ‘Initial Accreditation Granted with Conditions’ for its consecutive and concurrent programs of professional teacher education."
