Carol Vinette-Hancharyk is new Controller

Carol Vinette-Hancharyk joined the College on March 25 as Controller and Manager of Finance. As head of the Finance Unit, she will help to ensure that the operations and services of the College are appropriately funded and that resources are employed in an effective and responsible manner so that member fees can remain at a reasonable level.

“I am so pleased and honoured to have been given this exciting opportunity to serve as Controller of this dynamic, innovative and value-driven organization,” she says. “I look forward to working with College members, the Council and education partners to preserve the College’s stellar financial track record and excellent reputation for fiscal integrity and accountability to its members.”

Vinette-Hancharyk, a bilingual chartered accountant, brings to this role more than 20 years of financial leadership experience. She most recently served as Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Erinoak Kids, Ontario’s largest treatment centre for children with developmental, physical and communication disabilities.

In this position, she contributed to strategic planning initiatives and special-program-development project committees, where she collaborated with community care access centres to increase therapy services in Peel and Halton schools.

She co-authored the organization’s information management vision and strategy, which established its IT initiatives; she provided direction, expertise and guidance for numerous initiatives that led to successful accreditation-quality audits and enhanced collaborative relationships with community partners and hospitals.

From 1987 to 1994, prior to joining Erinoak in the mid-1990s, Vinette-Hancharyk was senior auditor and then audit manager with KPMG Peat Marwick Thorne. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University.

She is familiar with the education sector through past experience as a school council member and treasurer at École élémentaire catholique Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Mississauga.

Vinette-Hancharyk has been involved in numerous committees and has volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and the MS Society of Canada.
