Provincial Cabinet reappoints two members

Pauline Smart was reappointed to the College Council on January 10, 2008, having previously served from June 2005 to June 2007.

Smart and her husband have owned and operated Smart’s Marina in Cloyne near Kingston since 1990. They have two children, one at the postsecondary level and the other attending high school in the Catholic public system.

She has been involved in school councils and forums over the years, acting in various capacities, including treasurer, secretary and chair. She is currently active at her son’s high school council. These involvements have kept her in touch with both curriculum changes and school events.


Youth advocate Danny Anckle was reappointed to Council on March 1, 2008.

Anckle has worked in community and organizational development in London, England and Toronto since 1987. He has been a public member of the College Council since 2006.

He is currently Executive Director of Leave Out Violence Ontario, a not-for-profit youth-violence-prevention organization. Leave Out Violence Ontario helps youth to end violence in their lives and become community leaders in violence prevention. Anckle was previously the executive director of Central Neighbourhood House, a community-based, multi-service neighbourhood centre in downtown east Toronto.

He was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada in 1991. He has volunteered for and worked with a number of child and youth organizations. His focus is on marginalized communities, including children, families and youth at risk, around issues of access, equity, anti-racism and diversity.

He holds a Child and Youth Work Diploma from George Brown College and is a graduate of the York University-Maytree Foundation Executive Directors’ Institute. He is currently completing a business management diploma from ICS Canada.
