Awareness campaign goes province wide

A choice beyond the French curriculum

French-language education (FLE) in Ontario is encouraging francophones and francophiles, including newcomers to the province, to choose a French-language education.

The second-phase launch of their province wide campaign aims to deliver a fuller French lifestyle while bolstering higher contributions to the vitality of Ontario’s Francophonie.

FLE’s sights are set on families with children who are eligible to be educated in French. According to FLE, between 30,000 and 40,000 of these students are currently attending English-language schools.

Funded by Canadian Heritage under the Canada-Ontario Agreement and co-ordinated by the Centre franco-ontarien de ressources pédagogiques (CFORP), this campaign promotes the short- and long-term educational and cultural advantages gained from enrolling in a French-language school. The benefits stretch well beyond the French curriculum.

The FLE network includes the French-language school boards, more than 335 elementary schools, 94 secondary schools and more than 200 school daycare services, as well as 12 French-language or bilingual postsecondary institutions.
