FRENCH APPRECIATION

College Registrar Michael Salvatori, OCT, celebrates the benefits of learning a second language with Core French students at St. Robert Catholic High School in Thornhill during their French week in November.

Robotics Competition

High school students and teachers from across the province gather at the Ontario Science Centre to listen to the rules for this year’s international FIRST Robotics competition via satellite. Participants have six weeks to build and test their robots. The best teams will compete in the world championships in St. Louis (April 27–30). Last year, 10 Ontario teams made it to the finals.

VISITORS

Delegations regularly visit the College to share and gather information on a range of education issues to do with accreditation, certification and professional practice.

SCOTLAND and WALES: Tony Finn, Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council for Scotland, and Angela Jardine, Chair of the General Teaching Council for Wales, met with Council Chair Liz Papadopoulos, OCT.

PERU: In November College staff met with three members of the Improving Basic Education in Peru project (centre) – Patricia Andraide, Robert McCue and Carlos Gallardo.

A delegation of school directors and superintendents from the Netherlands visited the College in November to be briefed on the roles and responsibilities of the College.
