Ministry covers costs of additional issue

The Ministry of Education has agreed to pay the College for additional direct costs incurred in producing and mailing the special election edition of Professionally Speaking.

The government's delays in passing Bill 78 and changes to College election regulations outlining how the 2006 elections for the fourth College Council would be run meant that information was not available in time for publication in our June 2006 issue. A special 28-page election edition of Professionally Speaking was published during June.

The College received a cheque covering costs slightly in excess of $150,000 in September.

“The Ministry very much appreciates the way College Council and staff worked with the Ministry to enable a 2006 Council election based on new legislative and regulatory requirements,” wrote Paul Anthony, Director of the Teaching Policy and Standards branch of the Ministry. “The diligence and commitment of your staff were outstanding.”
